UDRS controversies

The DRS system seems to be getting into controversies gradually.

During the trials, the Indian team did not like it during the trials in Sri Lanka. Is it the reason why it was not used in the previous series nor the next one against Bangladesh?

Sri Lanka was not happy with the decision not to use, probably because they did well with the UDRS system.

The ongoing test between Pakistan and Australia saw multiple challenges with varying degrees of success - commentators like Ian Chappell were not so convinced about the accuracy of the technology.

West Indies, who faced the system last series, also were not so keen about the system.England also do not know how to use the system!!!

Is it because teams do not know how to use the UDRS effectively? Interesting times ahead with the UDRS.

What is your  say on the UDRS?

From the DRS as it stands now (See section 3 - "Player Review" here: http://is.gd/5KMlM ), I think they need to:

1. Remove the clause pertaining to the use of technology for prediction/extrapolation of whether the ball would have gone onto hit the stumps (for LBW decision). From the cases ive had a chance to see - the tech. is not quite that perfect yet and the on-field umpires are still a better judge of the pace/bounce/direction combination. Other aspects of the LBW decision can still be subject to DRS.

2. Progressively (in steps) remove the 2-unsuccessful attempts restrictions. This was obv. borrowed from Tennis - but Tennis and Cricket are different ball games (forgive the pun).
(Unlike tennis, there are no important/non-important points - every wicket is valuable and there are only 10. Also, cricket is a bit weird in that although its the 2 batsmen taking center-stage at any time - but it is still a team game.)

Cheers.
PS: It is interesting to note that the Rules state that the 3rd umpire is only to pass on information; the final decision is still in the hands of the on-field umpires. Its specifically states what kind of Qs should/should-not be asked.
