Captain CoolSouth Africa start the deciding test match tomorrow against India after losing the previous test in Durban. Momentum might be with India but history is on the side of South Africa. The pitch is supposed to be batsmen-friendly while the bowlers will come into effect if there is rain involved. Today, Smith tweeted that the practice session had been canceled - good news for whoever wins the toss tomorrow - will it be finally MS Dhoni who calls correctly?
Kallis and Steyn have done well on this ground in earlier test matches and they dont require history to remind them about how well they have done against the Indians.
Greame Smith in the press conference admitted that his team was poor in Durban and bemoaned the fact that his team lacked a bit of luck. He clarified that Sreesanth crossed the line by bringing in family issues during his argument - MSD didnt like it and expected the bowler to be on the right side this time. Dhoni felt that the test presented an opportunity to create history.
Kallis and Amla lead the runs scored in this series thanks to their big century in the first test. Their wickets will be the ones that the Indians will target. Similarly, Steyn and Morkel lead the wickets taken in the series. The Indians should be much more confident about their ability to see off these two bowlers and target the others.
If the Indians can put early pressure on the Proteans with some luck, it will be tough for the South Africans to make a comeback.
