2001 Match between India and Australia.
I was in Chennai on 14th March 2001 working for my company. Couldnt see it live then but have watched enough of re-telecasts and highlights and special CDs. Laxman scored a 50 in the first innings and got out last. Then, in an inspired move, Ganguly made him go at No.3 and then rest is history. Laxman has been coming up with a match-winning knock against the aussies time and again, in test matches. This match made sure that every Australian captain will think before trying to enforce follow-on in a test match.
For all Sachin's heroics, he doesnt have a match like this to show to the world on what he has done. Its pretty much like Deewar's Amitabh/Shashi Kapoor dialogue...
Sachin: Mere paas 34 test centuries hai (as of 2004-end), 30+ ODI centuries hai, 17000 firstclass runs hai, tere paas kya hai?
Laxman: Mere Paas 281 against Australia in Eden Gardens hai
